Welcome to the Wyoming Veterinary Technician Association (WyVTA) Home Page.

The WyVTA was formed in 1999 to help foster communication between veterinary technicians, assistants and office support staff throughout the state.

As a young, growing organization, we had some lofty goals.

	To provide annual continuing education (CE) for technicians and assistants
	To administer the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) twice yearly
	To administer a certification process for technicians in Wyoming
	To have the state Veterinary Practice Act recognize and outline the responsibilities of technicians
	To continue to educate the public about veterinary technicians

We have been offering the VTNE twice yearly since 2000. In 2006, the VTNE was purchased by the American Assosication of State Veterinary Boards (AAVSB). Administration of the VTNE is no longer being handled by the WyVTA, but is now in the hands of AAVSB. With that change, technicians must be graduates of an AVMA accredited school to take the test.

Certification in Wyoming is voluntary and is being administered by the Wyoming Veterinary Technician Association. It is our goal to have as many technicians in the state as possible become certified to help strengthen our effort to have technicians recognized in the Practice Act.

We currently conduct business meetings on-line through VSPN (Veterinary Support Personnel Network). Anyone in the veterinary profession may obtain free membership to VSPN and participate in our meetings.
